Who do we want?

Folk looking either for a career change or to train in the rehab industry; with a desire to be self-employed and make functional rehabilitation therapy and coaching their full-time occupation.

Trained massage or physical therapists or personal trainers /fitness coaches ideal although no previous experience is necessary as full training will be given to the correct candidate.

What type of person are you?

Physically fit or athletic, self driven, inquisitive, keen to learn, interested in sport & exercise, health & well-being, driven to continuously improve, have the intelligence to understand how little you know.

Optional:

Experience of severe chronic or acute accident or injury and rehabilitation from the same

What do you want?

  1. To learn how to help yourself and others find ways out of pain and discomfort through the assessment, treatment and elimination of musculoskeletal muscular imbalances.

  2. To learn how to assist athletes and sports people improve their physical performance through the same processes.

You will learn to assess & treat common dysfunction of the muscular system and mechanisms for treatment via hands on therapy (deep tissue sports massage and the use of neuromuscular therapy or trigger pointing), and coaching client self care (stretching, strengthening, mobilising and stabilising – in other words targeted rehabilitative exercise).

What training will be given:

You will be required to attend 4 6-8hour weekend training sessions over the course of 4 to 6 weeks with occasional evening training sessions (working with a Myo therapist on Myo clients) throughout the same period. These sessions will cover anatomy and physiology, manual therapies such as massage, sports & deep tissue massage, and NMT (neuromuscular therapy).

You will also be required to do home study (producing short reports on common joint and muscular dysfunctions, assessment & rehabilitation protocols and differential diagnoses) and home practise (you will have to conduct and write up four case studies during the initial training period).

On successful completion of this you will be eligible to join the Myokinetics team as a trainee therapist, providing massage services at a trainee rate.

Training for the next 4 to 6 weeks will then focus on functional rehabilitation (with a similar profile as above however with a focus on rehabilitation of muscular imbalance and dysfunction)

On successful completion of this second phase of training you will be eligible to offer massage services at Myo rates.

In order to complete the training programme you will need to conduct a final case study (with write up) of at least one client from assessment to discharge over a period of 12 weeks. At this point you will be a fully trained Myokinetics functional rehabilitation specialist.

If you have the drive and ambition to help others while being your own boss then send us your CV with a covering email above so thatwe can arrange to have a chat.
